To start off our Fall learning, we are starting with Apples.  Today we watched a video about John Chapman- also known as Johnny Appleseed.  We will read about the life cycle of apple trees, how to grow an apple tree, and the different things we can make using apples.  We will finish up this week with an apple taste test.  The students will each need to bring an apple to school as well so that we can make applesauce.  If you are free this Thursday or Friday, please let me know.  We would love to have volunteers and guests helping us with our apple studies.

Tomorrow is our Jog-A-Thon.  I asked the students what we should wear/ bring for the jog-a-thon.

Case said "money."  Emma said  "the class who brings the most money gets to have a pizza party or go to Bounce U."  Trellmon said " if you don't have money you get to go."  Suri said " wear tshirts and shorts and tennis shoes, like running gear." Semaj said "Or basketball shorts or basketball shoes and a red t-shirt."  (We will have a jog-a-thon tshirt for every child to wear.)
Cameron said- "Eat cereal or pancakes or waffles (for breakfast before you come to school)."

Please send any donations you have collected in an envelope tomorrow.  Tomorrow is the last day for us to collect money for the jog-a-thon.  If you are able to come out and join us for the jog-a-thon, we will go down to the track at 9:45 and return to our classroom at 10:30.  We would love to see you.

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend.  Next Friday is our Jog-A-Thon.  The kids have some information to share.

Case- You can skip, run, or jog.  Whoever raises the most money wins.
Suri- If our class wins we get to have a pizza party or something like that.
Trellmon- The Jog-a-thon is where we have fun.
A.J.-  We can hop scotch.  We are trying to get a lot of laps.

Your child should have a folder with a donation sheet attached.  If you have not already turned in your envelope you have until the day of the Jog-A-Thon to do so.  Every donation helps and all proceeds go right back into our school via PTA.

When you ask your child "What did you learn today?," you may prompt the typical I don't know response with one of the following-

Emma- We learned our numbers- the number 2 and wrote them to 6
Suri- We learned that we are not supposed to fight in school.
Finley- We moved the cupcakes over for our birthday on a birthday graph.
Immanuel- We told when our birthday is.
Samual- We learned about birthday cake and we moved the birthday cake over and we colored in our number journal.

We are working on stating our birthdays, odd or even numbers, shape review, and color words still.  Have your child practice writing their name or stating their birthday.

Have a great Wednesday

Good Morning Families!  I hope you are on your way to Jenks East and having a smooth go of it.  We visited the library yesterday at the end of school.  Mrs. Hughes and Mrs. Beam hope to have the kids ready to check out their own library books in 2 weeks.  We are all excited for this to happen and can't wait to practice our library procedures.  We will let you know when we have passed the 'ready to check out books' test.

Have a great Thursday!
